First appointment with a Wellbeing Adviser

The Wellbeing Service aims to offer appropriate help as quickly and efficiently as possible.

In order to help us do this we would be grateful if you could complete the online form below. A member of the Student Wellbeing adviser team will contact you as soon as possible. Fields with an asterisk (*) are required.

Please note that all students who access help through the Wellbeing Service must be registered with a GP. If you are not currently registered with a GP, you can find your local practice online. If you would like to see a Student Wellbeing Adviser for support with registering with a GP please state this on the appointment form.

This service is staffed between 9-5pm, Monday-Friday. Please note the Student Wellbeing Service is not an emergency service. If someone you know is expressing thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or risk-taking behaviour, and you have a high concern for their safety, advise them to contact their GP and arrange an appointment immediately.

If you think the person may be at immediate risk of harming themselves or someone else (such as threatening to take their own life or the life of another person), call the emergency services on 999.

If you are concerned for your own safety or the safety of another student, you can also find emergency contacts available online.

You can access online support through 24/7 facilitated mental health support forum, Togetherall - 24/7 Support. You may also find our self-help resources and fortnightly newsletter helpful.

The form to book an appointment with the Wellbeing Advisers is on this page below. We have compiled some brief explanations for frequently asked questions for some of the information requested on this form:

We ask for this information so that we are able to contact the student’s GP if they need urgent help. Wherever possible we will discuss this with a student first and obtain their consent. This is in line with the service’s confidentiality policy, and we do not use this information in any other way.

We ask for this information so that we can try to ensure that you meet with the most appropriate form of support offered by the Wellbeing Service from the outset. This information is not shared with anyone outside of the Student Wellbeing Service.

The reason we ask you to tell us if you are a care experienced or estranged student is so your Student Wellbeing Adviser can offer advice tailored to your situation, for example there may be different funding available.

To request an initial appointment with a Wellbeing Adviser, you can complete the first appointment form.

Following your initial contact with the service you will be invited to attend a one-to-one meeting with a member of the team. We currently offer appointment via phone, online video meeting or in person.
