Disabled Students Expert Panel
The Disabled Students Expert Panel will provide the University with advice and feedback on matters relating to accessibility, inclusion and the experience of disabled students at Glasgow Caledonian.
The panel's objectives are:
- To provide advice and feedback to the Disability Review Project Board (or its successor) on the Disability Review Action Plan and its implementation, and various University projects and developments – in relation to accessibility and inclusion matters
- To develop and coordinate, with support from Glasgow Caledonian staff and the Students’ Association, wider engagement and consultation with disabled students at Glasgow Caledonian to ensure diverse student experiences and voices are embedded into provisions
- To support the co-creation of new provision, and further development of existing support provision that provides access and inclusion for disabled students at Glasgow Caledonian, according to the principle of ‘Nothing about us without us’
It meets four times a year, with additional meetings occurring as required, and is co-chaired between the Full Time Officer lead for Disabled Students and Disability Manager, with 10 panel members with lived experience as a disabled students at Glasgow Caledonian.
Working as a Disabled Students Expert Panel Member will allow you to play an active role in the University, helping to create accessible and inclusive support for students, to develop skills to improve your future employment prospects and meet and work with other Glasgow Caledonian students from across the University community. The role also offers you the opportunity to earn money on a part-time basis with the flexibility to fit around your studies.
