Carer: an individual who provides or intends to provide care for another individual. An unpaid carer could be looking after a family member, friend or neighbour who needs help. They might have an illness, disability, physical or mental health problem, or addiction.
Care experienced: someone who, for any length of time and at any stage of life, has been in care (for example living with foster carers, in residential care, or in kinship care with relatives).
Estranged: someone who no longer has any contact with their parents, and this is very unlikely to change.
The reason we ask you to tell us if you are a care experienced or estranged student is so your Student Wellbeing Adviser can offer advice tailored to your situation, for example there may be different funding available from the UK.
To request an initial appointment with a Wellbeing Adviser, you can complete the first appointment form.
Following your initial contact with the service you will be invited to attend a one-to-one meeting with a member of the team. We currently offer appointment via phone, online video meeting or in person.
