ADHD at University

Getting ready for uni: ADHD session

GCU recognises that starting university can be stressful, whilst understanding the additional challenges and anxieties that applicants with ADHD may experience. The Disability team is delivering a session for students with ADHD who will be starting their studies in September. This will give you the opportunity to meet other students, share concerns, discuss helpful study strategies and tips, and find out more about what support is available at GCU.

Applicants who have disclosed in their university application will receive an invitation to attend the session. If you did not receive information about the session but would like to attend please contact us at disabilityintake@gcu.ac.uk . You do not need to have a formal diagnosis to attend

The session is being held at our Glasgow Campus on Wednesday 13th August 2025 between 10am-1pm. The session aims to:

  • Provide a smoother transition for students with ADHD starting university
  • Improve take-up of offers of places on courses
  • Encourage students with ADHD to engage with support services early

Some of the topics that will be covered in the session are:

  • Introduction to support services available at the University
  • Discussion around support that can be provided by the wider wellbeing service, other support services, and your academic department
  • Helpful study skills strategies, assistive software and apps you may want to try out
  • How to look after your mental health while at Glasgow Caledonian
