When do I get my results? Please be aware you may receive separate notifications for each module
The release of your results may be spread over a number of days. This is because your results are released as and when they have been 'signed off' by each module leader. Please be assured your results will be made available as soon as possible.

Mark Grade Schemes Overall Module Grades
Grade
Description
P
You have passed the module
F
You have failed the module
FP
Your attempt has been preserved, usually as a result of a Fit2Sit or EEEC being accepted. Your attempt will not count, and you will be eligible to attempt the module again.
CO
You have been given a compensated pass in your module; you will not have to resit.
DF
Your result has been deferred, and a decision will be with you soon.
SS
You were on Suspension of Studies and as such no mark has been given.
Grades for each individual assessment component undertaken Where your module has more than one assignment, for example, an essay and a presentation which carry separate marks, the weighted marks from the assignments are used to calculate a coursework aggregate. This would be the same if your module has more than one exam, an exam aggregate is calculated.
Where your module has an exam and course works, the coursework and exam aggregates are important because you need to achieve a minimum mark in them as well as getting the pass mark for the module. For modules with a 40% pass mark, the required aggregated mark for the coursework average and the exam average is usually 35%. You usually need a minimum of 45% in the coursework average and the exam average if the pass mark for your module is 50%.
The required minimum marks, the pass mark and how the marks for your assessments are weighted should be explained in your module descriptor. Please contact your Module Leader if you need more information.

What if I didn't get the results I expected?

If you are concerned about your results in a particular module talk to your module leader. They will usually go over your exam script with you and explain why the marks were given.
If you are concerned about your overall marks and degree classification, your Director of Studies should be able to explain the decision of the Assessment Board to you.
You may wish to appeal against the Assessment Board’s decision

Module pass mark and Minimum threshold requirements In order to pass a module, students are required to meet a minimum threshold for each assessment as well as gain an overall aggregated pass mark. Below is a brief explanation and exemplar scenarios
For Undergraduate Students:
arrow_forward
Students need to achieve an overall mark of 40% or higher to pass a module, and at least a mark of 35% in each assessment element (coursework/ exam) associated with the module. Please note that some modules have an approved exception to either the threshold and/or overall passmark. In such cases these will be clearly outlined in the module handbook.

Observations
Assessment 1
36%
Mark exceeds minimum mark threshold
Assessment 2
50%
Mark exceeds minimum mark threshold
Module Mark
43% (P)
Student passes the module

Assessment 1
36%

Assessment 2
36%
Mark meets minimum mark threshold
Module Mark
36% (F)
Student fails the module – the pass mark is not reached.
In this case the student may be eligible for compensation, however that will depend on their overall profile.
If compensation is not awarded, then the student will have to resit BOTH Assessment 1 and Assessment 2
Assessment

Mark
Observations
Assessment 1
28%
Mark does not minimum mark threshold
Assessment 2
54%
Mark exceeds minimum mark threshold
Module Mark
41% (F)
Student fails the module, Exam mark does not meet threshold and therefore the student will have to resit Assessment 1
Assessment
Weighting 50:50
Mark
Observations
Assessment 1
32%
Mark does not minimum mark threshold
Assessment 2
38%
Mark exceeds minimum mark threshold
Module Mark
35% (F)
Student fails the module, due to failing to meet the overall passmark.
In this scenario the expectation is that the student will retake both assessment 1 and assessment 2 even though the min threshold was met for assessment 2
For Postgraduate Students:
