Disability service

Glasgow Caledonian is committed to providing an inclusive student experience, which offers all students the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

The Disability Team provides advice, information and services to disabled students and applicants. The proportion of students disclosing disability increases annually, and currently around 20% - or one in five - GCU students consider themselves to be disabled. This includes students facing barriers or challenges due to medical, physical, and sensory differences, mental ill health or distress, dyslexia, autism, ADHD and other experiential or processing differences..

We seek to promote a learning environment that minimises the impact of disability on the student experience. Towards this aim, we assist staff at Glasgow Caledonian by offering information, advice and training related to the support of disabled students, and the promotion of accessible and inclusive teaching and service provision.

Please contact us if you have any queries relating to your own needs, or if you wish to know more about the University’s approach to supporting disabled students.

In 2019 Glasgow Caledonian University's Student Wellbeing Service became the first in the UK to achieve accreditation from the National Autistic Society. We were then re-accredited in 2023. You can find out more about what this means for our students and staff on our Autism Accreditation Scheme Award pages.
