The Exams team work with the academic schools to timetable all formal exams at the three scheduled exams diets.
In this section you will find answers to some of the commonly asked questions about exams.
Answers should be completed in ink in most cases. We advise you to bring spare pens/pencils as required.
Check your module details to see what else you are permitted to bring, for example, calculators. The Exams Office cannot provide spares.
You need to bring your student ID card so that invigilators can take attendance and so you have your student ID number at hand to write on your answer book.
Permitted at the discretion of the invigilators unless otherwise stated in reasonable adjustments. We advise limiting this to water in a bottle, with no writing, and small snacks to minimise noise disruption to other students.
Not permitted and should be switched fully off and placed in your bag at the front of the room. Having any electronics on your person during an exam is considered a breach of the regulations. If you need your phone for medical reasons, for example, blood sugar monitoring, the Exams Office should be made aware of this via reasonable adjustments. If you require spectacles and use smart glasses in your day-to-day life, you will need a normal pair for your exams
Only permitted where this has been agreed in advance of the exam as a reasonable adjustment
Not allowed on your person or on your table in an exam room unless you have been advised that they are a permitted resource. Where allowed, this will normally consist of one A4 sheet and must be typed.

Please remember that you will need to get a new Student ID card to reflect your name so our invigilators can match you to our lists.
Where someone is suspected of cheating in an exam:
The progression and award board will not agree on a final mark while the investigation is going on.
If the Senate Disciplinary Committee decides you have not cheated, the assessment board will agree on a final mark.
If they think you have cheated, the Senate Disciplinary Committee will consider what action to take. See the Code of Student Conduct for more information.
