Student to show gratitude with free comedy gigs
A GCU student is set to put on a number of free comedy gigs when the coronavirus crisis comes to an end.
Fourth year International Events student Chrissy Ross is looking to team up with other comedians to perform at a number of venues as a way to welcome everyone back to both the social and comedy scene.
Chrissy explained: “As wee creatures walking this earth, we certainly are social ones – so it’s been tough times for us all not to have that interaction.
Basically, we want to give a thank you to everyone who’s observed the lockdown and acknowledge the likes of health, postal and retail workers who have really kept the world ticking over during these difficult times.”
He added: “I’ll not be taking any fees or any money – they’ll be free gigs. I’ve spoken to a couple of other acts and basically depending on when this blows over, we’ll start to look at getting it all organised.
It’s vital that we help venues make some much needed revenue and I’m sure they’ll make good money off the bar. The most important thing is that we get everyone smiling again.”
Chrissy also delved into his past and had some useful tips for students who are looking to keep entertained during lockdown.
He said: “I used to be in the merchant navy and would be stuck on a ship for eight or nine months a year – so it’s been quite good having internet and TV shows.
On a serious note though, routine is key and it’s important to break your day into different sections.
I’ve been doing a lot of work on my dissertation and have also been trying to do some very light exercise in the morning. I’m not wanting to lose too many calories though - I’ve got to maintain my bulk for marketing reasons!”
