Your student email address is your main registered email address which all University information is sent to. This includes your exam results, service notifications, library reminders, news updates and important issues relating to your studies and life at GCU. You must check it regularly or set it up to forward emails to a personal account that is checked regularly.

If you have any queries which are not answered by the information on the left-hand menu, please contact the IT Helpdesk with as much information as possible. Remember to include alternative contact details if your problem involves accessing your email account.

Setting up your email

You must setup your email account before you can send/receive emails.  Visit the Office 365 login page and login with your email account credentials:

  • Your email address is in the format: <username>@caledonian.ac.uk
  • Access to your email account is secured by your domain password; this is the same password you use to log into University PCs on campus.  If you do not know your email account password, click here for information on how to reset it.  

Your student email account is bound by Microsoft's usage policies. The first time you access your email account you will be prompted to enter some additional security information & accept Microsoft's terms & conditions.

Email on mobile devices

Learn how to add your email account to your mobile device, and how to install and set up Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote on your tablet or smartphone by following the instructions here.

These instructions have been tested using the Microsoft Outlook apps for Android and iOS devices.

Forwarding your email

You can configure your email account to forward messages onto another address.  Instructions on setting up email forwarding can be found here.

Graduated students

Your University email account will remain active after you leave University for as long as you wish to use it.

You can contact IT Helpdesk on Tel. 0141 273 1234 or email ithelp@gcu.ac.uk from your personal email address as recorded on your student records for an email password reset.
