Freshers' week

Freshers' Week takes place every September to welcome our new students to GCU and this year runs from Monday 08 September to Friday 12 September 2025.

Working in partnership with GCU Students’ Association, we have lots of exciting events and activities for you to get involved in.

This year’s theme is the carnival as we celebrate welcoming our new students onto campus and look forward to their exciting student journey at GCU.

Our Freshers' line-up is detailed below:

Caley Carnival

Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 September

Freshers’ Week is about having fun and meeting new friends. What better way to do that than at our Caley Carnival!

Marvel at our on-site carnival performers or get involved in our games, including:

• Hoopla
• Coconut shy
• Ball in the bucket
• Wheel of fortune
• Buzz wire
• Many more!

We’ll also have face painters and free popcorn venders to get you all into the carnival spirit!

Our Freshers’ Market stalls are back!

Freshers’ Fair

The Arc

The GCU Students’ Association ‘Freshers’ Fair’ is your chance to meet all GCU’s sports clubs and societies. From Dungeons and Dragons to Dance, you’ll be sure to find something that suits your interests.

Oasis tribute night

Tuesday 9 September (7pm)

Re:Union Bar and Grill

You wanna roll with it into Freshers’ Week at GCU? We’ve got you covered with our Oasis tribute night!

The Oasis reunion tour has been the hottest ticket in town this summer so join us at Re:Union Bar and Grill on Tuesday 9 September to continue the good vibes.

The band will be covering all the big hits – you’ll be guaranteed to have a wonder(wall) night!

The Traitors Experience (12pm - 2pm)

Wednesday 10 September

Annie Lennox Building Foyer (level 0)

We can officially reveal that four of the cast members from BBC's hit show The Traitors will be on campus on Wednesday 10 September to meet students and pose for selfies and photographs.

Join the guys from 12pm - 2pm in the Annie Lennox Building foyer (Level 0). We'll have themed photo backdrops (including the iconic roundtable and the library) as well as a variety of props so you can immerse yourself in the full Traitors experience.

Are you a Traitor or a Faithful? This one is not to be missed!

Mini Golf

Thursday 11 and Friday 12 September

Our 9 hole mini golf course is the perfect way to unwind after the madness of day one, two and three of Freshers' Week.

We’ll also loads of other Freshers’ activities and freebies to help welcome you to our GCU community – we can’t wait to see you!
