Flexible exam schedule and new assignment deadline
Following the news earlier this week detailing changes to the exam schedule, a number of students have advised us that they are ready and wish to sit their exams on the planned date, with many indicating that the revised exam dates presented considerable difficulties.
After reviewing the feedback received and in consultation with the Students' Association, we are now giving students the choice to sit each scheduled exam either in the week beginning Monday, January 7, or the week beginning Monday, January 21. This new arrangement provides students with the flexibility many have requested.
Revised exam and assignment schedule
All January exam dates are detailed at: https://www.gcu.ac.uk/student/study/exams/theexam/examtimetables/
Students will only be allowed to sit each exam once and different exam papers will be used in each diet.
Students do not need to tell us the week in which they have elected to sit their exam. Any students who already have special arrangements confirmed for their exams will be catered for during all sittings.
Exams scheduled for the week of Monday, January 14, will continue as originally planned and will not be repeated.
All coursework with a deadline of week commencing Monday, January 7, has been extended and can now be submitted anytime up to 4pm on Friday, January 11.
The 24-hour opening of the Library will also be extended to include the week of Monday, January 21, to accommodate additional study time for students sitting exams that week.
Our intention is to adhere to our policy of issuing marks and feedback within three weeks, however as there are two sets of exams to mark (internally and externally), there may be some delays to this timescale. We will keep students informed should any delays occur.
Further questions
If students or staff have any further questions, refer to the FAQs.
If students have any outstanding questions or concerns about personal circumstances, please contact our advisors at studentsupport@gcu.ac.uk
We recognise the inconvenience the delay to the completion of the GCULearn upgrade and subsequent changes to the exam schedule has caused. The University is reviewing the circumstances which have led us to this point in order that lessons can be learned and ensure this does not happen in the future.
