GCU Foundation
As the University for the Common Good, Glasgow Caledonian is passionately committed to ensuring access to education for talented individuals from all backgrounds. Through the GCU Foundation, we support students most in need to access transformative education and life-changing opportunities.
We’re marking 150 years since the founding of our earliest predecessor, the Glasgow School of Cookery – a pioneering institution established to empower working-class women and improve life in lower-income communities. That founding mission for the “Common Weal” remains at the heart of everything we do today.
Backed by our Founding Donor, Sir Alex Ferguson CBE, the GCU Foundation is now launching our 150th Anniversary Campaign, in response to growing numbers of applicants from care-experienced and estranged backgrounds.
As part of our landmark campaign, we aim to fund 150 new scholarships and deliver a sector-leading package of support, which will include mentoring, travel awards, and employability support, to help students overcome financial, social and networking barriers alike.
All funds raised through the generosity of our donors go directly to where the need is greatest: providing vital scholarships and bursaries to students facing hardship, as well as employability support to help them reach their full potential.
