Magnusson Fund
Since 2007, the Magnusson Fund has supported students at Glasgow Caledonian University to chase their aspirations while making a lasting difference - both in their local communities and across the globe.
Established in memory of our esteemed former Chancellor, Magnus Magnusson KBE - renowned television presenter, journalist, author, historian, proud Icelander, and true “lad o’ pairts”—the Magnusson Fund was created to honour his remarkable legacy. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, including alumni and friends of the University, GCU students are invited each year to apply for Magnusson Awards of up to £5,000 to help bring their dreams to life with projects spanning from international volunteering and community initiatives to entrepreneurial ventures. What makes the Magnusson Awards truly unique is their celebration of imagination and bold thinking - no idea is too ambitious.
To date, 157 students across 38 countries have received over £630,000 in funding, to undertake experiences that not only transform their lives, but that of others, leaving a meaningful impact on the world around them.
