Abandoned Bikes

Every year a number of bikes are abandoned at GCU and donated to local bike recycling charities.

The University’s procedure for abandoned bikes sets out steps and timescales for dealing with abandoned bikes. The procedure ensures that (a) owners have time and opportunity to reclaim their bikes and (b) that all unclaimed bikes are checked against Police Scotland’s lost property/theft records.

Once the University has satisfied itself that a bike is genuinely abandoned, it will reach out to a number of local, non-for-profit bike recycling organisations, such as Bike for Refugees Scotland.
