Celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight 2025

Glasgow Caledonian University is celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight 2025.

Glasgow Caledonian University will be celebrating the annual Fairtrade Fortnight from Monday, 22 September – Friday, 3 October 2025. Fairtrade Fortnight is a promotional campaign organised by the Fairtrade Foundation to increase awareness of Fairtrade. See below for activities and events to take part of the Fairtrade Fortnight celebrations:

  • Take action by purchasing Fairtrade items from the University’s catering outlets such as coffee, tea, chocolates, bananas or Juice Burst.
  • From Tuesday, 23 – Friday, 20 September you can visit the Fairtrade book display at the Sir Alex Ferguson Library’s Relax and Renew space to learn more about fair trade issues and how Fairtrade is embedded within the University’s operations.
  • Take part of the Virtual High Tea organised by the Fairtrade Foundation featuring the CEO of the Fairtrade Foundation, Eleanor Harrison and Fairtrade tea farmer and manager, Nancy Githaigo from Kenya. 
    GCU students & staff are invited to take a relaxing moment with your favourite cup of tea and join this event to hear directly from those at the heart of the Fairtrade movement and to explore how we can all take action for a fairer future. High Tea Talk takes place on Thursday 25 September at 6pm.   • Tell us about your any projects, initiatives, teaching activities, research or other activities that support fair trade principles and could be included in our bi-annual Fairtrade accreditation audit evidence. You can send a brief summary of your project and any supporting materials to the Sustainability team: sustainability@gcu.ac.uk.
