Department of Vision Sciences

The department of Vision Sciences plays a key role within the research and learning portfolio of the School of Health and Life Sciences.

It's the only place in the UK that offers the suite of vision sciences undergraduate courses: MOptom (IP) Optometry with Independent Prescribing, BSc Ophthalmic Dispensing and BSc (Hons) Orthoptics. All courses enable students to gain hands-on clinical experience in the on-campus Vision Centre. The courses have been accredited by the General Optical Council or the Health and Care Professions Council.

Students within Vision Sciences benefit from the state-of-the-art facilities of the GCU Vision Centre. The Vision Centre provides clinical training facilities for students to work with patients under supervision of our experienced and qualified clinical staff.
