Becoming a Widening Participation and Outreach Student Mentor offers a fantastic opportunity to not only give back to your local community but also to develop essential core and employability skills. As a Widening Participation and Outreach Student Mentor, you'll experience increased engagement with your course and the wider University.

Here's what you can expect:

Widening participation

Work with a range of diverse groups, including primary and secondary school pupils, and college students considering higher education.

Role model and GCU representative

Act as a role model and representative for your course and GCU, delivering activities that will boost confidence, core skills, and lifelong learning aspirations.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds, but we're particularly keen to hear from:

  • GCU undergraduate students
  • Graduates from GCU Connect or Caledonian Club schools
  • Students who have progressed to GCU from study at college
  • Students who have progressed to GCU from a Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP)
  • Care experienced or estranged students.
