Self-Service Password Reset

Our Self-Service Password Reset system allows you to reset your domain password securely from any web-enabled location.  This service will also send an email 14 days before your password is due to expire; this email will be sent to your University account and will contain information on how you can reset your password.  If you do not reset your password promptly, you'll receive a further email at 7 days and 3 days before your password expires.

Student Information


You must have access to your personal email address that is registered in the Student Record System.  If you are unsure what your registered personal email address is, or would like to change it, visit the Student Support pages for further information.

Resetting your password

  1. Visit and enter your GCU username
  2. You'll be prompted to enter three pieces of information:
    1. Date of Birth; this must be entered as DDMMYYYY and there should not be any dots, dashes or slashes included.  For example: 05102015
    2. Student ID Number; this is your matriculation number that appears on your student card.  For example: S1234567
    3. Personal email address; this is the external email address you gave to Student Records when you registered.  For example; a Hotmail, Live or Gmail address. You must not enter your student email address.
  3. Check your personal email account on a new web page; do not close the Password Reset web page or your session will time out.  A security code will be sent to your personal email address. Enter this security code into the Password Reset web page
    1. Your security code is only valid for the Password Reset session in progress.  If you have old security codes in your personal email account, please delete these.
  4. Enter and confirm a new domain password. Your password must be between 8 and 16 characters long and containing a combination of at least three of the following four options:
    1. Uppercase letters
    2. Lowercase letters
    3. Numbers
    4. Special characters

Staff Information


If you are using an encrypted computer, we advise that all password resets are carried out while on GCU Campus.  See here for more information.

You must be registered to use the self-service password reset system. 

To register:

  1. Visit and enter your GCU username and current domain password
  2. Answer the four security questions on screen. Your answers must be memorable as you'll be asked to confirm two random answers if you need to reset your password.

Resetting your password

  1. Visit and enter your GCU username
  2. Enter your security answers
  3. Enter and confirm a new password (between 8 and 16 characters); your new password must match our security criteria explained here
  4. Click Next to complete the password reset process
  5. If you have configured eduroam or your staff email on any mobile devices, you will now need to update your devices with your new domain password
