Advice for students regarding Trimester A and Covid-19 vaccinations ahead of 2021/22 academic year
Preparations for the start of the 2021/22 academic year are underway and we are looking forward to welcoming new and returning students back to our campus.
We understand that you will be keen to know what life will be like at GCU when you return, or join us for the first time in September, and we will be in touch over the coming weeks with more information relating to:
- Learning and teaching
- Induction and Freshers' Week
- Access to University facilities
- Our plans to keep you safe when on campus
- Research spaces
We continue to be advised by Scottish Government guidance and although we are unable to provide complete clarity on what learning and teaching will look like at GCU in September, there will be opportunities to be on campus and we are planning for delivery of on-campus teaching groups, with lectures continuing to take place online.
Our academic and professional services staff are working hard to ensure you have the best possible student experience for the year ahead.
Covid-19 vaccinations
With the session starting in September, there is still time to ensure that students who are 16 or over can have both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine before arriving on campus. The more people who are vaccinated against coronavirus, the better we can help reduce transmission.
Advice for UK based students
If you are resident in the United Kingdom and do not currently have an appointment for the first or second dose (eight weeks after the first) of the vaccine, you can find details on how to arrange an appointment, or attend a drop-in vaccination centre, via the following links:
Students who are aged 16 and over are encouraged to attend a drop-in clinic to ensure you are vaccinated as soon as possible.
Details of available drop-in clinics in Glasgow and surrounding area.
Advice for International students
We want to reassure our international students who are based overseas that they will be able to get their first (or second) dose of the vaccine when they arrive in UK and we will direct you to help that is available. We also know some of you might be worried about quarantine arrangements and we are monitoring the situation closely, as we approach the start of Trimester A. We will share any new information with you as soon as we have it, including ways in which we can support you if you need to quarantine on arrival in the UK.
We want our students to feel safe when they return to campus so we would like as many of you as possible to have both doses of the vaccine ahead of the new academic year.
In the meantime, we hope you are enjoying your well-earned break and we are looking forward to seeing you in September.
