A group of International Event Management students are set to host a Charity Banquet for up to 150 people at a top Glasgow venue – raising money for an epilepsy charity in the process.

The event, organised by Common Good Events, will take place at The Studio on Friday 17 April – with proceeds going to Epilepsy Scotland.
Hosted by BBC Scotland’s Gavin Wallace, guests will be treated to a range of entertainment including a Prosecco reception, three course meal, live music, raffle and silent auction – with prizes including return flights to any destination with Loganair.

The night is being organised as part of a programme module, however there is a much deeper meaning to their efforts.

Project Manager Michelle Kowalski explained: “Some of my friends and family members have suffered from epilepsy in the past, so personally it means a lot to be raising money for such a great cause.

We were given a budget of £100 and have already raised a further £470 through a GoFundMe page. The bar at the venue has also agreed to donate 10% of profits on the night, so it’s all looking really positive.

Michelle added: “The name of our group comes from the University and it just seemed like the perfect fit for what we’re doing here as it all obviously ties into the Common Good.”

Marketing and PR Manager Dennise Crighton also explained the importance of the group being active across social media and what the future may hold beyond the event.

She said: “Social media is really important for us getting our message out there, however it’s more than just publicising the actual event. We want to create an overall experience to really help get everyone excited that’s coming along on the night.

Currently the group is really focused on this event however we wouldn’t rule out keeping our group going in future – we’re working really well as a team!”
