Stuart discussed his role at GCU and gave an insight into his likes and dislikes

You’ve seen the social media posts and read the articles, but now it’s your chance to meet the team behind GCU Student Life.

Last but not least, it's Stuart Martin:

Stuart created the Student Communications team back in 2018 to build a community for current students at Glasgow Caledonian University.

The team has gone from strength to strength over the past eight years - let's hear from Stuart:

What’s your job role?

Student Communications Manager!

What does a typical day look like for you?

Up early and in the office for 8am to get a head start on the day. Write my do list to keep me on track. Other than that no day is the same in my role. It ranges from a day in the office working on forward planning and strategies/various campaign comms plans to out and about on campus filming with students or attending and engaging with students at events on campus.

What’s your favourite thing about working at GCU?

Definitely the people I work with as well as supporting students on their journey through university.

What did you study at university?

Multimedia Journalism at GCU.

What’s one interesting fact about yourself?

I've currently climbed 142 of Scotland's 282 Munros. Mountains over 3000 feet. So just over halfway to completing them all!

If you were a drink, what would you be and why?

I'd be a soda water and lime. No frills but refreshing.

This or that...

Chill manager or stressed manager?

Chilled

Early planner or last-minute problem solver?

Early planner

Creative brainstorm or strategy meeting?

Creative brainstorm

Inbox at zero or organised chaos?

Quiet office day or busy campus filming day?

Tough one, I like a mix of both

Leading the meeting or listening to the team?

Definitely a bit of both
