Recently engaged student discusses tying the knot on BBC Radio Scotland interview

A recently engaged student has had the opportunity to discuss all things wedding as part of an interview with BBC Radio Scotland.
Child Nursing student Megan Regan has recently returned from a special holiday in Tenerife, where her now fiancé popped the question just before their four year anniversary.
On her return to Scotland, Megan was contacted by an old high school friend who works for BBC Radio Scotland and asked if she would be interested in discussing weddings live on the radio.
The radio appearance included a discussion with BBC Radio Scotland presenter Kaye Adams, where Megan was asked about her own engagement and the topic of weddings in general:
Firstly, how does it feel to be engaged?
“Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real! I keep catching myself looking at my hand and smiling like a dafty. It’s such a happy feeling — like this lovely mix of excitement and calm, knowing we’re stepping into a whole new chapter together. Everything feels so different but at the same time, it feels exactly the same as before but with a heavier hand. It’s definitely surreal in the best way possible!”
Tell us how the opportunity came about to appear on BBC Radio Scotland?
“It all came about quite quickly! An old high school friend reached out, telling that she now has her dream job and works for the BBC. She informed me that BBC Radio Scotland were looking to speak to someone recently engaged, who could add to the topic they were going to discuss on Kaye Adams Morning Show and she thought of me.
The topic of interest was about an Irish Bride who had recently gotten married and had a whopping 95 bridesmaids; over 40% of the guests were in the bridal party alone. I was totally surprised (and a bit nervous!), but also really flattered to be asked. Before I knew it, I was chatting to a producer and then it was all go from there!”
What did you get to discuss as part of the interview?
“The topic was all about engagements and weddings in general; why people get engaged, what it means nowadays, when is the right timeline of planning things and of course, how many bridesmaids I will be having myself! I thought I was bad with a maximum of eight bridesmaids, never mind 95! I don't think I even know 95 people. It was actually really nice to reflect on it all — you don’t always stop and think about it in that much detail!”
Must have felt strange being on the radio! What was the experience like and was it cool hearing it back?
“It was SO strange — but in a good way! I kept thinking, “What if I totally freeze up?” but everyone was really lovely and made me feel at ease. I was connected via a Zoom link so I could see Kaye Adams in real time asking the questions which helped.
Before the interview, the product team were laughing and admiring my new jumper. It says "Fiancè EST 2025" on it. The perfect fit for the occasion. Hearing it back was wild… like, that’s me on the radio! Definitely one to save and show the grandkids someday!
It's available on now on BBC Sounds. Just go to the BBC Radio Scotland section for Monday 12th May 2025. The show is called ‘Mornings with Kaye Adams’ and my interview starts about an hour and 50 minutes in if anyone wants to listen!”
