‘Creative. Empowering. Connected’: GCU student runs her own social events company

Noir Vybez events encourage people to switch off and be present

A GCU student has built her own growing creative events brand designed to bring people together and create connection.

Alongside her BA (Hons) Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship with HR Management studies at Glasgow Caledonian, she has provided an inclusive space for people to come together, switch off and be present.

Lorraina Dennis founded Noir Vybez, an events company centred around intentional experiences: From Sip & Paint sessions to vision board workshops and themed events, her work offers more than just a typical night out.

Her events are designed to be more than just enjoyable - they aim to provide a safe and empowering environment, particularly for women, where people can unwind and express themselves freely.

We spoke with her to find out more about her events.

What inspired you to start running curated creative events like Sip & Paint and Vision Board workshops?

“I wanted to combine social energy with meaningful creativity. Too many events are either just parties or too formal and I created something in between creative, intentional and community focused.”

"My goal was to create safe, empowering spaces where people especially women can unwind, connect and express themselves creatively."

How can events like this support wellbeing, confidence or social connection?

“These events can encourage mindfulness and build confidence through creativity. It is also a space designed to create genuine social connection and provide a safe welcoming environment to allow people to switch off and be present.”

What skills from your BA (Hons) Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship with HR Management have helped you run these events successfully?

“My course has helped massively with aspects like strategic planning and budgeting, organisation and operations, inclusive event design and more. It not only helps with the logistics but also improved my communication and leadership.

“I know now how to run creative events with structure and purpose!”

If you could sum up your events in three words, what would they be?

“Creative. Empowering. Connected.”

You can follow Noir Vibes on Instagram and Eventbrite to find out what events are upcoming.
