Summary of content

An examination of the role of Genre both historically and in the contemporary Television landscape, noting the changes and the challenges these present to working writers.
Areas covered will include Comedy (both sit-com and comedy drama) Children’s and Young Adult Television, the perennial Cops & Docs, the arrival of writing for Formats (soft scripting – Traitors etc.) and the impact of Docudrama
Delivery will be by lectures, case studies, class discussion, formative exercises, analysis of techniques across genres.
