Summary of content
This module will orient students to in the potential television marketplaces for their writing, with the focus on enabling students to produce work that is ‘commissionable’. In this context ‘television’ is understood in the widest possible sense: linear broadcasting, UK public service broadcasters, non-linear broadcasting, commercial streaming services (e.g. SVOD, TVOD) and other forms of online storytelling. The module will explore the issues that affect commissioning decisions, such as channel and company branding, budgets, audiences, scheduling, and elements of regulatory and policy issues that affect commissioning. Content will explore international and domestic UK markets.
