Summary of content

This module enables students to combine their learning of news reporting/writing and production
techniques and apply these skills to the production of editions of newspapers, radio and television bulletins, on-line journalism pages and social media posts including social shorts, under real-time, live newsroom and deadline conditions. These weekly "news day" assessments will take place in an appropriately-equipped newsroom and digital broadcasting production facilities. Copy and news items for the editions and bulletins may be drawn from a variety of external/other sources (agency and newswire services, but will primarily be originated by the students themselves on the Newsday itself.
There will be a minimum of 15 news days held, all of which will be -multi-media productions, in order to meet industry accreditation requirements. For the 11 teaching weeks of the Trimester there will be a weekly Multimedia Newsday.
Throughout the module, students will work in teams on each platform on a rota basis.
In a number of the weekly news days, students will be given practical voice coaching /presentation tuition.
