Summary of content

Centred on the CIPD Professional Map and its eight core behaviours, this module aims to provide learners with a competency framework approach to develop effective operational skills as confident and responsible people professionals. It facilitates critical reflection of both self and professional competencies and behaviours and how these can be used and built upon to help formation of professional identity, whilst increasing both professional and personal workplace achievements and advancement in rapidly changing internal and external organisational contexts. Career development and personal employability initiatives will be explored with particular emphasis on industry trends, creativity, employer and industry CIPD professional requirements. Module delivery is underpinned by the Principles for Responsible Management Education, helping students not only develop their career management and personal resilience, but responsible and ethical behaviour towards others in the workplace. As such is aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals No.3 Good Health and Wellbeing and No. 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and assists students in developing the GCU Common Good Attributes of: Confidence; Active and Global Citizenship; Responsible Leadership; and Resilience, Compassion and Empathy.
