Summary of content
The Finance Research Project is the capstone module of the MSc programme, where students apply the skills and knowledge gained on taught modules to produce a 12,000-word research project. They will identify a knowledge gap and/or salient, critically analyse the academic literature and current knowledge, select the appropriate methodology and data, and produce a coherent argument demonstrating their ability to relate theory to practice.
The Finance Research Project will also help students develop essential skills for the workplace, as well as the ability to objectively analyse real problems through an academic lens. The module will provide students with the opportunity to conduct an in-depth research project at an advanced level, underpinned by theory and undertaking empirical research.
Students will be assigned a Dissertation Supervisor who will guide them through the dissertation and research process:
1.Project planning: formulating aims and objectives 2.Evaluating research questions 3.Review of the literature and sources 4.Implementing a relevant theoretical/conceptual framework 5.Methodologies and methods 6.Ethical issues 7.Data selection and evaluation 8.Analysing of results 9.Evaluating findings 10.Effective communication: writing up.
