Summary of content

In the face of turbulent economic environments, organisations are increasingly required to make use of complex financial and people data analytics in order to support evidence-based and strategic decision making for the sustainment of competitive advantage. In tandem, contemporary organisations are increasingly required to employ more sophisticated organisational and people performance measurement and reward techniques. This module aims to develop the business acumen of current and future organisational leaders, people managers and HR professionals as it relates to the organisation’s purpose, future direction, priorities and sustained performance, as well as the external influences and trends impacting them and how organisations can implement contemporary, ethical, responsible and sustainable organisational and people performance and reward management strategies and practices.

Students will develop their critical analysis skills in the application of contemporary organisational approaches to strategic and individual people performance and reward, underpinned by people and data analytics. The module will increase students’ critical awareness of the organisational economic and financial context and its influence on strategic decision making, incorporating the identification, manipulation and interpretation of key financial, performance and people metrics. Thereupon, students will develop critical thinking in relation to organisational strategy, planning, forecasting and the design of strategic performance and reward systems. Students will also learn how to critically evaluate the core elements of effective people performance management and reward strategies and practices, and consider the ethical and sustainability implications. Accordingly, Strategic Organisational Performance Analytics assists students in developing the GCU Common Attributes of Entrepreneurial Mind-Set, Systems Thinking, Responsible Leadership and Confidence in the implementation of strategic and people management practices.
