Summary of content
All organisations are involved in implementing new initiatives, making project risk management a highly relevant topic. To stay competitive, organisations must develop complex products, services, and processes within very short time-to-market windows. Stakeholders who depend on the project are also affected by its outcome. Consequently, project risk management becomes a powerful tool for organisations that understand how it works and are skilled at applying it.
With the rapid growth of project risk management across sectors, industries, and countries, theories and bodies of knowledge have developed advocating best practice. In project management, risk is any unforeseen event that may have a positive or negative impact on the project. People, processes, technology, and resources can all be affected by risk, so it must be managed across the whole project.
The project risk manager must have the analytical ability to closely examine and assess the risks of each project and take the necessary steps to mitigate these without compromising the integrity of the project. This module examines the full range of topics associated with the field of project management. The module will provide the student with a structured approach for assessing and managing a wide variety of project risks.
The purpose therefore is to provide students with an understanding of risk management strategies that can be used to manage and reduce a variety of uncertainties that could otherwise impede project outcomes and deliverables. Students will develop their analytical skills by closely examining and assessing a wide array of international projects, based on a systemic methodology of identifying, prioritising, and controlling risks.
Students will receive an up-to-date, practical curriculum that will prepare them for successful integration into any project-centred team or role by including current industry topics such as Risk Register Management, Conflict Management, and Risk Optimisation.
