Summary of content

The ability to effectively manage projects is a key skill for managers in today's workplace, particularly with managing remote teams. This module introduces students to the key aspects and fundamental activities that take place within project management. The module syllabus introduces students to the staff and roles involved in projects as well as the main phases of the project life cycle and provides an awareness of the issues involved in project planning and control in both small and large-scale projects. In addition to developing an understanding of the theoretical aspects of project management, students will use the latest project management software to set-up, manage and control projects. An assessment of risk in projects is a key learning aspect and to develop suitable risk mitigation strategies. Within the module students will be encouraged to demonstrate responsible leadership by making ethical and innovative decision regarding project plans, schedules, resources and outcomes.
