Summary of content
This module will equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as social scientists, both within academia and in wider professional contexts. It offers an essential introduction to key social science disciplines, explores the foundations of social science thinking, and develops students’ ability to communicate social science knowledge effectively. As well as developing skills, this will foster a sense of belonging within the Social Sciences department in line with the programme strategy. The module will also examine how social sciences skills are applied – and valued – in the world of work, which helps promote employability. This is a core module for all new MSc Human Rights and MSc Global Security students to be taken in their first trimester at GCU.
