Summary of content
The aim of the module is to provide an overview of advanced waste treatment systems (AWTS) and their role in reducing dependency on landfill as a disposal route for municipal solid waste (MSW). The need for advanced waste treatment systems will be critically examined and put into context with national and international waste management strategies. Relevant technologies will be described and assessed in detail, together with the scope for energy recovery and the use/treatment of by-products. The module will also consider the feedstock requirements.
