This module develops students’ critical understanding of the foundational concepts underpinning occupational therapy and occupational science. It explores the meaning and purpose of occupation, its essential relationship to health and wellbeing, and its role as a central and dynamic force in human life.

Students will examine the historical development, scope, and evolution of both disciplines. They will explore how occupational therapists and occupational scientists use theoretical models and frameworks to understand the complexity of human occupation, building a critical perspective on key concepts that underpin and inform practice.
