Summary of content This on-line module aims to enable the student to evaluate the application of and make informed judgements on the analysis and interpretation of a range of diagnostic investigation techniques in the management of foot and lower limb pathology. This is inclusive of vascular assessments, laboratory assessments and imaging modalities. Students will also complete the IRMER certificate as part of this module. Lectures will be delivered on-line live (synchronous) and recorded (asynchronous) from experts in the field. There will be weekly live/synchronous tutorials bringing the topics to life with practical applications and case studies.

Learning outcomes arrow_forward On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: 1. Critically evaluate the principles, indications, and limitations of a range of diagnostic investigation techniques—including vascular assessments, laboratory diagnostics, and imaging modalities—in the context of foot and lower limb pathology. 2. Integrate and synthesise diagnostic data from multiple modalities to support evidence-informed clinical decision-making in the assessment and management of lower limb conditions. 3. Apply appropriate clinical reasoning to interpret investigation results, taking into account patient presentation, differential diagnoses, and the implications for therapeutic intervention. 4. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of radiation protection principles and regulations through successful completion of the IRMER certification and apply this knowledge within clinical practice involving imaging modalities.
Teaching / learning strategy arrow_forward This module is delivered on-line. A variety of media will be utilised which may include a mix of video lectures, podcasts, narrated presentations, online synchronous and asynchronous group discussions and tutorials / online self directed study to engage students in the key concepts which will then be developed through directed reading, guided activities, literature searching and student initiated reading. Formative assessment opportunities and guided tasks will allow students to identify learning strategies to meet their personal learning needs. Having access to a computer with Internet access is recommended and required to undertake this module.
