Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:-
1. Appraise and apply person and family-centred care, and proactive approaches, to complex situations across the patient journey.
2. Apply knowledge in analysing the relationship between normal physiological processes and disease states.
3. Critique clinical interventions, which were identified as appropriate through the assessment of patients.
4. Critically analyse approaches to care planning, including self-management and advanced care planning.
5. Critically analyse the importance of identifying personal values, goals, needs and informed choices in clinical decision-making.
6. Evaluate the need for effective communication in complex situations between individuals, families and health and social care professionals, including selecting and critiquing frameworks that foster culturally sensitive care.
Student centred methods which promote active participation will be utilised. A flexible blended approach to learning using online activities/materials and tutorials will provide a learning experience which encourages students to adopt an enquiry based approach to the subject matter.
