Summary of content

Building upon foundational international law, this course delves into the specialised legal frameworks governing armed conflict and post-conflict settings. It will explore two interconnected areas:
• International Humanitarian Law (IHL), examining the core principles and frameworks regulating the conduct of armed conflict; and
• Transitional justice and peace processes, examining the laws and processes which respond to conflict-era atrocities and govern the transition to peace.
Through lectures, discussions, and practical exercises, students will gain insight into legal frameworks, ethical considerations, and practical approaches to humanitarian law and transitional justice.
