Summary of content

This module equips students with the skills to think critically about patient safety and advancements in radiotherapy. They will develop mechanisms to transfer these skills to their competent professional role. Students will be introduced to the four key concepts of Clinical Governance: quality assurance, quality improvement, risk, and incident management. This includes the completion of tasks related to risk assessments, audits, and error reporting. The effect of an incident on both patients and staff will be investigated.
With the increase in verification imaging in radiotherapy, images will be used to highlight the risk of potential matching errors, which in turn will increase confidence in image interpretation.
Additionally, with rapid technological advances in the field of radiotherapy and emerging technologies this module will introduce students to novel approaches and their application
