Summary of content

The module aim is to develop a knowledge and understanding of the role and importance of supply chain management within a variety of private, public and voluntary organisations. Specific attention will be provided to supply chain management theory and concepts including supply chain networks and key supply chain processes. The module will aim to provide an appreciation of how supply chain management can be leveraged and add strategic value to organisations and gain competitive advantage through sustainable supply chain management. Moreover, the module will examine the use of technology for supply chain integration, visibility and a real time data sharing across supply chains. It will also focus on strategic relationship management, in particular at the supplier selection strategies. The module also examines supply chain innovation and sustainable developments, as well as the involvement of latest technologies to achieve strategic fit and competitive advantage.
