Summary of content

This module aims to develop a knowledge and understanding of the role and importance of supply chain management within a variety of private, public and voluntary organizations. Specific attention will be provided to supply chain management theory and concepts including supply chain networks and key supply chain processes. The module will aim to provide an appreciation of how supply chain management can be leveraged and add strategic value to organisations and gain competitive advantage. Moreover, the module will examine the use of technology for supply chain integration, visibility and real time data sharing across supply chains. It will also focus on strategic relationship management, in particular at the supplier side with areas such as procurement and negotiations being considered. The module also examines contemporary issues and challenges presented through supply chain management such us globalisation, sustainability and risk management etc.
