Summary of content

The aim of this module is to introduce students to the concept of project management from both a theoretical and practical perspective. The nature of projects are defined and the role of the project manager discussed. The project life cycle is analysed, including project initiation, planning, implementation and project closure, together with the tools and techniques used in project planning and analysis. The importance of risk management is also considered. In IT labs, students then apply theoretical concepts and use software to set up and manage projects. Thus, this module provides students with a theoretical understanding of projects together with practical skills which are very relevant and valuable in modern businesses.
