Summary of content

The first part of the module explores the role of the EU in a number of specific policy areas including competition, industrial and agricultural policy.
In the second part of the module attention is focussed on the economic performance of the EU since the introduction of the Euro to determine the extent to which the expected benefits from the single currency have materialised. Finally the module will conclude by considering the future development of the EU in relation to further enlargement and reform to the institutions and the decision-making procedures.
