Summary of content

The module seeks to instil students with practical, industry-ready and relevant skills required for the pricing of construction works. On the module, students learn how to price works using analytical estimating approaches from a contractor's point of view. It also addresses other costs that need to be included in a construction tender including Preliminary Costs, Insurances and Risk. The module also covers other factors, other than cost, that that influence the estimating and tendering process and have an effect on the commercial viability of a tender such as design, tender and bid strategy, market conditions, competition law, market-testing, planning and construction methods. The module also covers computer-aided Estimating.
