Summary of content

This module builds on previous practice experience and develops students’ understanding of occupational therapy practice, through a structured, supervised placement. This placement supports students in developing greater autonomy, clinical reasoning, and confidence in applying occupational therapy theory to practice. Students are expected to contribute more actively to applying all aspects of the occupational therapy process, including assessment, intervention planning, and evaluation, under the supervision of a qualified occupational therapist and as relevant to the practice context. Emphasis is placed on the development of practice skills relevant to the setting, evidence-based and ethical decision-making, and interprofessional collaboration. The module also supports the development of beginner leadership, service improvement, and critical reflection skills.
