Summary of content

This module will introduce students to many of the fundamental aspects of contact lens practice, through a programme of lectures, tutorials and structured practical sessions. Building upon students’ existing knowledge of optics, ocular disease, and clinical instrumentation for assessing the ocular structures, the lecture series will explore key concepts related to contact lens materials and design, as well as the principles of contact lens fitting and the ongoing management of contact lens wearers. Students will have the opportunity to apply these concepts within the accompanying tutorials and practical sessions. The teaching strategy encourages a systematic approach to contact lens work, with close integration of the relevant theory and practice.
