Summary of content

In this module students will be introduced to the various requirements and corrections for dispensing and managing low vision patients. This will include classification and types of Low Vision and Visual impairment as well as conditions commonly associated with vision loss. Both the theory and calculations used with optical device as well as their practical use will be covered along with non-optical corrections and strategies for managing Low Vision in daily life. Lastly, students will explore task analysis and communication to provide appropriate management options as well as directing patients to local and national support for them and their families.
