Summary of content

This module introduces a range of ocular diseases which affect patients who present to eyecare professionals. Students will learn about the fundamental principles of pathology and disease processes. The module then builds upon existing knowledge of anatomy and physiology to explore the causes, symptoms and signs of a range of ocular diseases. Students will also be introduced to different management options employed by eyecare professionals for patients with ocular disease. The teaching strategy encourages a systematic approach to assessment of patients at risk of ocular disease. Interactive learning sessions (e.g. discussion of authentic clinical cases) support students in understanding how to apply the module’s learning material to their careers as eyecare professionals.
