Summary of content

The syllabus will include the following elements: Drawing upon key psychological literature to: Introduce the concepts and theories of the psychology of groups, teams and what makes them distinguishable in terms of being effective or ineffective, and in how they are similar and different. Provide a range of knowledge and evidence about the different types of team commonly found in Health & Social Care with particular emphasis upon the roles and characteristics of interprofessional teams. Specify the importance of key team-working skills including communication, and dealing with conflict to ensure effective team performance. Introduce ways to develop interprofessional skills. Research and produce an e-story as part of an interprofessional team. Knowledge and understanding about the sociological definitions and understandings about the nature of communities. Introducing the key issues involved in the social determinants of health and well-being considering a social justice perspective. Outlining the meaning and role of an asset-based approach to health. Illuminating ways to apply knowledge health promotion and empower service users using a variety of mechanisms; including brief interventions / motivational interviewing and trans theoretical model of change and its importance within health and social care considering the assets and social determinants to a community.
