University offers free online course in human rights policy

Human Rights Policy Short Course

Workers in the public or third sector are being offered fully-funded short courses in human rights policy and practice.

Glasgow Caledonian University is delivering the free online module, Realising Rights in Practice, as part of the Scottish Funding Council's Upskilling programme.

The 12-week course is open to anyone employed in Scotland or by a Scottish-based organisation, with an interest in human rights.

It runs from September to December and features a remote weekly seminar, supported with online materials.

Professor Angela O'Hagan, of Glasgow Caledonian, said: "Building human rights capacity among practitioners, policymakers, advocates, and decision-makers is essential if public policy and public services in Scotland are to meet the diverse needs of our population, and the opportunities of the new Human Rights legislation coming to Scotland.

"The course is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are committed to staying informed about the latest developments in the field, sharing knowledge, practice and learning with others from across public and community organisations in Scotland.

“It’s a great environment to increase awareness and understanding of human rights in practice, and meet and learn with colleagues across a diverse range of organisations with a common commitment to progressing the realisation of rights.”

The closing date for applications is September 11. For more information visit Realising Rights in Practice Short Course.
