Excellent international student experience at Glasgow Caledonian

Glasgow Caledonian University has received a positive response on student satisfaction at the University in the prestigious 2023-24 International Student Barometer (ISB).

Overall satisfaction amongst our international students is 92%, marking a 2% increase on last year. The University outperforms the global benchmarks and has seen improvements across all categories in the ISB this year.

The ISB, an annual survey open to all international and EU (non-UK) students, assesses student perceptions and satisfaction across a range of areas. These include the decision-making and the application process, enquiry to acceptance process, arrival and orientation, the learning experience, the living experience, and support services. It also invites students to state if they would recommend the University as a place to study.

We achieved excellent results for the learning experience, arrival experience, and the extent to which our students rate their happiness with life at Glasgow Caledonian, with 94% satisfaction in each of these categories.

Strong year-on-year improvements are illustrated across a number of important areas with the living experience category increasing from 82% satisfaction last year to 90%. The University scored 89% in the value for money category, well above the global benchmark, and 86% of our international students would recommend Glasgow Caledonian.

We achieved our highest response rate in the ISB survey to date at 38% (1,752 responses across Glasgow and London), an increase of almost a quarter on last year.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Decent said: “These are fantastic results, marking a great start to 2024. The positive outcomes in the ISB reflect the commitment and hard work of staff across the University in delivering an outstanding experience for our international students. At Glasgow Caledonian, we place great importance on the student voice, and feedback from our student surveys will inform the further enhancement of our student experience and support for students.”
